Sienna M. Wood holds a PhD in Musicology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Colorado College.  She earned a Certificate in College Teaching from the Graduate Teacher Program at CU Boulder in 2014 and practices innovative music pedagogy.  Sienna's dissertation, "Chansons, madrigales & motetz à 3 parties by Noé Faignient: A Composer's Debut in 16th-century Antwerp," was completed in November 2015.

Sienna's research areas include 16th-century polyphony in the Low Countries, the liedeken (15th- and 16th-century Dutch song), propaganda in music in the Early Modern period, music printing as a social and economic force, and careerism among composers during the Reformation and Counter-Reformation. She is also interested in digital edition-making and related technologies such as MusicXML and the Music Encoding Initiative. She has performed, toured, and recorded with a wide range of performing groups including early music ensembles (as a vocalist and wind player), traditional orchestra and chamber groups (as a clarinetist), and the Bowed Piano Ensemble. Outside of music, Sienna is a freelance web developer and graphic artist.
